New Things

Peyton has this new thing she does - It's an evil laugh combined with a monster voice. I'm not sure of any other way to describe it, but it's pretty funny and she thinks it's hilarious.

Cianna was helping me unload the groceries yesterday. She kept bringing me a bag, then she would pull each item out and exclaim "WOW! I've never seen this before!" I've never seen anyone get so excited about crackers or potatoes before.

Cianna started gymnastics on Thursday. She loved it. It's a short session, only 3 weeks, but we just wanted to give her a little preview so she can decide if she likes it. She was tumbling all over, jumping into the foam pit, on the trampoline and walking on the balance beam.

We took the family camping last weekend and we were really roughin it. We decided Peyton had the best spot in the tent because she was in her pack and play and slept like a baby. We will be investing in an air mattress before our next attempt. The girls enjoyed being out in the fresh air and running around. We saw three moose and Peyton was still talking about them yesterday.

Two days ago, Peyton was running around with out her diaper off. She does this when she gets tired of her diaper. Sometimes she sneaks into the bathroom and goes potty without telling anyone. Well after she did that, she climbed up on the coffee table naked and was doing some kind of crazy yoga pose, like downward dog or something. She was doing pretty well, although she looked hilarious...until she toppled off the table. Woops!

Magic Wand

Cianna just used her magic wand to turn me into a dog. Woof woof.

Peyton has another ear infection. She woke up from her nap on Saturday and said "daddy, my ear hurts." No fever, but her ear is draining a lot. Fortunately, I was able to get the dr to call in a prescription so we didn't have to go down to the doctor's again.

Cianna has this naughty habit of turning the TV back on after the sleep timer goes off and when she does, she gets in trouble, usually a spanking for disobeying. Well, the other day, she did just that, When I came in her room, she instantly apologized and turned the TV off, hoping to get out of a punishment. I told her I still had to give her a slap on the hand for disobeying and her response was a little unexpected: "I LOVE A SLAP ON THE HAND!!" she put her hand out for me. I explained to her that she wasn't supposed to love it. She was in trouble for not obeying. Oh my!

Peyton went pee in the potty today all on her own because Cianna was going. She is so annoyed with being in wet diapers, she takes them off immediately after peeing, but we're not that close to potty trained. She spends a lot of time naked around the house. Now, she has actually developed a preference for diapers. She likes the dora easy-ups and asks for them when she wants a new diaper.

At dance last week, she did great, getting more independent every day. She was very excited when she got to do wheelbarrows with the teacher and now greets her teacher, Stephanie, by name.

Bedtime

After over 30 minutes of trying to get Cianna in bed, finally I get some quiet time. We went round and round tonight trying to get her in her pajamas, then brush her teeth, then an arguement about whether she was allowed to watch 10 minutes of TV at 9pm, then a story and a whole bunch of silliness in between. At one point she told me "My face is sad."

Other cute stories from this week:

Cianna was in the back seat sneezing repeatedly on the way to daycare and I asked her "Is that you?" her reply was "That was me doing Ha-choos!"

Today we went to famous footwear to get Matt a new pair of work boots. Cianna kept asking "Where are we going?" and I told her a few times, to get daddy new shoes. She told me, "Stop mom, I'm trying to ask daddy." "Daddy, where are we going?" So Matt told her "I'm going to buy a new pair of shoes at the store." Her reply was "But I want a new pair of shoes too." She sure knows her audience.

Rockies Game

We took Cianna to her first Rockies game the other night. She was excited to see the baseball game, but kept asking when Justin was going to play. We didn't end up staying long because Matt got sick, but that seemed to be enough for Cianna anyways. She started asking to go to the car after the first hour. Guess she's not really a baseball fan, but we'll try again sometime.

I asked her the other day if she wants to take a new dance class when she turns 4. We were going to let her take 2 classes a week at that point and her choices are tap, jazz, ballet, hip hop, and a tap/ballet combo class. She chose hip hop, which doesn't surprise me one bit. We actually took the month of July off from dance and she just caught on. Last night she asked if she can go to dance class tomorrow.

Sleep Talking

The other night, Cianna and I had an exceptionally difficult night getting her to stay in bed. Finally as I was going to bed, I decided to pop in her room to give her an extra kiss good night. She heard me open the door and groggily opened her eyes, reached her hand up and grabbed the air and informed me that she caught a spider. I laughed and clarified, "You caught a spider?" and she replied "yeah." Then I asked her if she wanted me to tuck her in again and she said yes, then wrapped her arms around my neck and told me that I get to be her best friend. I'm pretty sure she was still asleep during all of this.

Pictures and earring issues

Recital Photos are available. Here is the link to the site. You can order them directly off this site if you want any or you can just view them. The numbers of the photos where you will find Cianna and Justin are 186-188, 196, 202-203, 206-210, 214-216, 220-228, 232-234, 237-243, 538-540, 546, and 548. Enjoy.

Peyton has discovered this new fascination with her earrings. She has worn earrings since 4 months old, but suddenly, she started playing with them. She has lost 1-2 pairs of earrings every day this week. I'm at a loss. She likes to wear them, but still takes them out. When I ask her if she wants earrings, she lays down on the floor with her head turned to one side, so that I can easily put them in. I'm just going to stock up on some cheap ones and maybe try some of the screw on backs. Wish me luck.

Good Morning

Peyton is a morning person if I ever saw one. Every morning when I come in her room to wake her up, she plays peek-a-boo, jumps around in her crib, and is all smiles. This morning, I went to get her and while I was changing her diaper, I said "Good Morning, Peyton." Out came the clearest, cutest little "Good Morning, Mommy."

Cianna, on the other hand, is anything but a morning person. We've gotten into the habit of letting her sleep as long as possible and carrying her like a potato sack out to the car, still in her pajamas. She will answer yes/no questions with a simple nod, but that's about all the response I get out of her that early.

Soccer Fun

Yesterday was Cianna's last soccer game for this season. She seemed to have a lot of fun. Every time she got the ball, she would kick it, then run over to us on the sidelines to tell us "YAY! I DID IT!!! I KICKED THE BALL!" Her coach was out that day so she had a substitute coach and she kept asking "Where is my Coach Nicole?" She is the smallest on the field by quite a bit, but she holds her own. She kept getting pushed by a girl twice her size and it didn't phase her one bit. Now it's break time for her. She'll start dance back up in August and there is a 3 week gymnastic's session at the end of August I'm thinking about letting her try. Peyton is on break from dance and Justin is using his make-up classes. He told me that the next recital is going to have a toy story theme and their breakdancing routine will be toy soldiers and one of the hip hop classes is doing a barbie dance. LOL! Should be a good one.

Learning Letters

I have started working with Cianna on her letters. Each day this week, I have printed out a worksheet on the letter A for Cianna. We talk about what letter it is, and practice tracing it, and say it's sound. I keep hoping that the next day she'll remember it's called "A" and after a few days of "B" and "N" and some guessing. Today she called it "A" so that seems like a good start. We'll keep practicing. She likes "schooltime."

The other day when I was putting Cianna to bed she told me "My last name is Ani" and I told her no that was her middle name. She asked "What is my last name?" and I told her so she repeated, "My middle name is Ani and my last name is Sexton."

Some Cianna sayings

Daddy so strong
Last week I had to take my car in for an oil change so I asked Cianna if she would come with me to fix my car. She said "Maybe daddy could fix your car cause he is sooo strong."

Cianna, the negotiator:
Cianna: "After I brush my teeth, then I can watch 10 minutes of TV?"
Mommy: "I don't know Cianna. Go brush your teeth first then we can talk about it."
Cianna: "Ok, I will brush my teeth, and then after, I can watch 10 minutes of TV?"
Mommy: "Cianna, I don't know. Go brush your teeth"
Cianna: "I will go brush my teeth, and then maybe we can talk about it."

Cianna, tough girl:
Cianna: "Peyton, what are you looking at? Do you want a piece of me? Huh? Huh? Do you want a piece of me?"
Peyton: "Me? yeah, ok"

Love you
Oh and I have to throw this one in from Peyton:
Peyton: "I love you, daddy"
Daddy: "I love you, too"
Peyton: "I love you, too, daddy"
Daddy: "I love you more"
Peyton: "I love you too, more"

First Post

I thought this would be a good way to share updates on the kids and how they are growing. Enjoy!

Yesterday, Cianna had soccer and got to play 2 games. She enjoys it, but I've decided she's not really agressive enough for soccer. She gets her feelings hurt easily when the kids won't share the ball with her. And she asks me if she's supposed to push because the other kids are pushing. The second game went better and Cianna was so excited to get a chance to kick the ball several times. Both kids had meltdowns at naptime. After I took a few minutes to de-stress for myself, I layed down with Cianna and read a story to her, then I sat in the rocker with Peyton and she started to fall asleep. It's been a long time since I had a chance to do that with her. I can't believe how fast she is growing.

Today, I took Cianna and Peyton to church with me. Cianna loves going to church and somehow always seems to know when it's Sunday. She just started going to sunday school for 3-4 year olds and seems to be enjoying it. Today she informed me that she got to take the candle out of the box. Peyton was a little angel for the first half of church, but got quite squirmy once Cianna came back to sit with us. We went out to ice cream and Peyton wore most of it home. Later we went over to Ruby's house, and the girls were playing in the sandbox. Cianna told me she was building a tower and she needed to take sand from Ruby's castle. "Ruby won't be mad at me." I laughed, of course, and she said "Don't laugh, mom." During one of her late excursions out of bed she informed me that "The sun is taking a break, so we have to take a break."
