Funny things they say

Cianna:

“It’s like 911 important, mom.”

“I want to go to the mountains and go skii-ting.”

“Can we make rice Christmas Trees?” (Rice Krispie Treats)

Everytime we drive by her future school – “That’s my kindergarten!!!”

“I’m going to give toys to the kids who don’t have lots of money.”

“Peyton, come here so I can brush your hair. I love brushing her hair". (Peyton giggles and shakes her head). PEYTON! Stop! You’re making it all crazy again.”

I reminded Cianna that last Thursday was her last day of gymnastics for the year and her answer was, “and then I can do soccer?” She loves soccer and has been waiting since October.

Cianna comes downstairs and asks me to help her with the laundry because she can’t reach the panties at the bottom. She was trying to switch a laundry load all by herself without even being told.

Grandma recently visited for a week and stayed in Cianna’s room. I think Cianna started to wonder if she was going to get her bed back so after 3 nights she asked me, “When is grandma going home?” I asked her if she wanted grandma to go home. She said “No, she can stay here and this can be her new home.” I chuckled and told her grandma was only staying a few more days and asked if she missed her bed and if she wanted to have a sleepover with grandma. She asked “Did grandma say I could sleep in here with her?” So we made her a little bed on the floor and she had a sleepover for a few nights with grandma.

Cianna was sitting at the dinner table tonight holding her Christmas card from Autumn (her godmother) with a picture of baby Sam (Autumn's baby). She tells Peyton "Peyton, this is Sam. I love him."

Peyton:

Puts her tights on her head and says in her deepest voice: “I’m Santa and I’m gonna get you presents. Ho ho ho!”

As we were working on Christmas cards: “I’m making this Christmas card for GOD.”

Peyton has had some issues with accidents here and there, only at home, with peeing her panties. Oops. She’s making great progress, but still has the occasional accident. The other day she says “Uh-oh, I have to go potty” and then waddles slowly to the bathroom. She actually had not had an accident and made it to the potty successfully. Smile

Peyton is not fond of new people or new activities, so when we took her to see Santa, she wouldn’t go near him or talk to him. After she saw Cianna ask for a new horse toy, she whispered from far away: “Santa, can I please have a new dolly?”

Peyton likes to tell it like it is and recently asked me why my butt was so big and why daddy had a big belly. Thanks Peyton.

This morning, Peyton was very tired and crabby. She asked me to hold her like a baby, so I did and walked her to the bathroom to go potty. I gave her a kiss and she said “I told you not to kiss me.” Then she told me she was tired and I said that she could sleep in the car. Her response, “I want to sleep in my bed.” Can’t say I blame her.

Church Stories

After church, the girls like to run down the big grassy hill over and over while mommy walks the long way down the steps. If you’ve seen the Rapunzel movie, Tangled, you’ll get this: Peyton runs down the grass shouting “BEST DAY EVER!!”

Cianna has started going to Sunday school and really likes it. She’s a great student. One day I sat in on class to try and encourage Peyton to stay. They were asking the kids questions: “What does a candle represent?” Cianna: “Jesus is the light of the world.” Then the teacher asks what is this special book (Holding up a lectionary – Gospel stories) and Cianna answers “Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.”

Summer Updates

Tantrum ForgivenessLast night, I asked Cianna to get ready for bed and she threw a big tantrum because she didn't want to get ready for bed. She wanted candy instead. Finally after much coaxing, she went upstairs for about 15 minutes. When she came down she was in her pajamas and smiling. I told her I was very happy that she put her pajamas on and she informed me that she also brushed and flossed her teeth and used mouthwash. She gave me a big hug and said "sorry for throwing a fit mom." (My heart melted)

Potty Training SucksThe never ending saga of potty training. I remember this being so much easier with Cianna. Yesterday, Peyton tells me she wants to wear panties so I help her pick out a pair of her new Rapunzel panties to put on. I reminded her not to make Rapunzel sad by peeing in her panties. About 30 minutes later, she's standing in her chair at the dinner table and I hear "I made the princess sad." followed by the gushing waterfall of pee on the chair and floor. Awesome.

One day Peyton was wearing panties all day and doing pretty well. She comes downstairs in the evening and tells me that she needs a pull up. I asked her if she had an accident and she nods without actually admitting anything. So I lift her up onto the potty telling her she needs to try to go potty before putting her pull up on. I didn't even notice at the time that the panties were completely dry and clean. After the futile effort on the potty, she puts on her pull-up. About 5 minutes later..."Peyton, did you poop in your pull-up?" sure enough. She knew she had to poop and came down to switch to a pull up so she didn't poop in her panties (and refused to go in the potty). What a punk!

We're working on the thumb sucking. Cianna tells me that she gets 3 jelly beans at daycare if she doesn't suck her thumb. I have promised her a new horse at the end of the month if she can quit the habit. Crossing my fingers.

Grandma came to visit for a few days and I told Cianna we were going to pick her up at the airport. Her response was "Is she going to have a sleepover?"

My girls like to play pretend, like most kids this age. However, the other day I found myself yelling at Peyton to stop drinking from the dog's water bowl. Cianna had a great justification for this behavior. "Mom, she's just being a horse."

The best soccer game
Cianna told Matt and I on the way to soccer that she was going to score a goal today. They practice for the first 30 minutes, then play a short informal game. She was the only one on her team that was really playing and on top of that she scored 4 goals for her team (and one for the other team). She was amazing and all over the field. I'm so proud and can't wait till the next game.

more sillies

I was excercising in front of the tv while peyton laid in bed watching. suddenly, she started giggling. i asked her if she was laughing at me. She said "yeah, I see your butt mom." I was doing squats at the time. Laying in bed trying to snuggle with peyton. "Get off my blankie, mom!" I said "don't be rude." Her response was "you've got to be kidding me" Cianna decided last summer that she was going to save all her money for the ice cream truck. So she saved every coin in a little box all fall and winter. Tonight, she was upstairs and heard the music of the ice cream truck. She was soooo excited she ran to her room in a huge hurry and grabbed her money, dumping it all over the floor. She scrambled to pick it up and ran downstairs but the ice cream truck had turned down another street. We all sat outside waiting for a few minutes and finally matt got on the atv, rode it down the street and caught up with the ice cream truck and got it to follow him back to the house. I can't describe the excitement of these girls. They were so thrilled and thoroughly enjoyed their ice cream. Cianna noticed the other day that her hair gets darker when wet. She said "mom, a piece of my hair is brown. Wanna see?" I came in to look but she couldn't find the one hair anymore. The search continues.

Peyton, big girl

Peyton is making great progress on potty training, as of about 13 days ago. She wears pull-ups or panties and is peeing in the potty all the time. We're still working on the trying to get her to use the potty for number 2, but I have hope. She's very excited and feels like a big girl. "I did it!" "I went pee in the potty!"

This morning, Peyton was the first one up and getting ready for daycare. While going potty, she asked me "Where's my little Cianna?" after I finished laughing, I told her Cianna was still in bed. A few minutes later, she heard Cianna hop out of bed and said with great enthusiasm "MOM! Cianna's awake!!" She ran to her to give her a hug and Cianna pushed her away, "Stop Peyton." I told Cianna she was just trying to give her a hug and she replied, "Oh, okay, you can hug me Peyton." LOL!

Cute Cianna Conclusions

1. While eating dinner - "Mom, drink turns into pee and food turns into poop, right?" 2. Driving by McDonalds - "Daddy, that M right there stands for Mommy!" 3. While out to lunch with mommy and Peyton, Cianna whispers in my ear - "Mommy, I am your girl and you're my best friend, but it's a secret. Don't tell daddy because he will give me candy." 4. Daddy bought milkshakes for Cianna, Mommy and Daddy (small, medium, and large). Cianna asks daddy which one is hers. He points to the small one and she asks Cianna: "why do I get the smallest one?" Dad: "because you are the smallest." Cianna: "but I'm 4 now and I'm getting bigger. I can spell my name and your name and mommy's name." Dad: "yeah but you're not as big as mom and dad." Cianna: "well how old are you dad?" Dad: "I'll be 30 this month." Cianna: "How old?" Dad: 30 5. After visiting Autumn (Cianna's Godmother) at the hospital with her new baby. Cianna says "Mom, I have 5 words...First word: Why is Autumn's baby not in her tummy anymore? (answer because he wanted to come out so he could meet his mommy and daddy) Ok, 2nd word: Where is he going to sleep? (Answer: in a crib like Peyton used to) Hmmm, another word: Why is Peyton sleeping in a big girl bed? (Answer: because she is getting to be a big girl now and she liked to crawl out of the crib) Ok, now why are they not at their house? (because the doctor's have to check and make sure they are healthy before they can go home). There was another question and I just can't remember it right now.

Recital Photos

Pictures from Cianna's recital in December are here. She is on pages 6 and 17. Enjoy looking and feel free to order if you are interested.

Also, from the last recital, here are some great pictures my neighbor took for me if you didn't get to see them last June.

Poor Peyton

Peyton has been miserable the last few days. She has had a fever every day for 5 days straight and is so tired and sad. On day 2, when she woke up, Cianna went to go check on her down the hall and I hear in the saddest little voice "Cianna, tell mommy that I am crying, okay?"

Potty training is going slow, if at all with Peyton. Every now and then she likes to remove her diaper and run around naked, just cause it's fun. So, she comes to me, butt bared, and asks "mom, can you please pick up my poop?" ARGHH!!! I head in there ready with the cleaning supplies and see 1 tiny plop of poop on the carpet. I pick it up and go to dump it in the potty, relieved to see 3 more identical pieces in there already. Whew...maybe this means she'll eventually get the hang of it.

Peyton sleep talks too. She groggily kept asking for daddy and popsicles the other night while sleeping on the couch.

While laying in our bed early one morning, still sick, somehow she managed to kick dad out of bed. When he tried to lay back down she yelled at him "NO!" He asked her if he could lay down too and again she said "NO!" He ended up sleeping sideways at the end of the bed while she lay sprawled out in his regular spot.

Cianna-isms

"Last night daddy gave me candy and that's why I am a daddy's girl now."

Peyton has been sick for a few days and missed daycare to stay home with daddy. When getting ready one morning, we were trying to decide if Peyton should stay home again or go to daycare. Peyton said she wanted to lay in daddy's bed. Cianna's reaction "OH NO! I have to go to daycare by myself AGAIN?!?"

Cianna got money for her birthday and she didn't really understand the concept of a check. Once the checks were cashed, I showed her $50 cash and she said "WWOOOWW! I want to save this for the ice cream man!"

Getting dressed in the morning for school can often be a treat. Yesterday, I had an outfit set out for Cianna and asked her to get dressed. Half awake, she told me she didn't want to wear that shirt. I asked her why and she said "because it's too sparkly." So I showed her another shirt that she also didn't want to wear and she told me that she didn't want to wear this one because it was too blue!

'Boys sleep like this "Honk Choo Honk Choo!" and Girls sleep like this "shhhhhhh"'

"I don't want to be friends with boys. I only want to be friends with girls."

(about a girl from school) "Mom, Aleah said she is not my friend because I am too little" I told her that she will always be little, but I can't imagine why anyone wouldn't like her.
